People’s Choice Frequently Asked Questions

TECHNICAL

How do I let someone know that a fan-generated Buzz Poll or comment is offensive or inappropriate?
As you're reading through Buzz Polls and poll comments, you'll notice an exclamation mark icon next to each item ("!"). If you feel that any fan-generated poll or comment is offensive or inappropriate, simply click on the "!" icon. This will flag the item for our behind-the-scenes administrators to review. If our administrators deem the poll to be inappropriate, it will be removed from the site.
I'm having problems getting through the CAPTCHA (the security feature that prompts me to type in the scrambled letters) to vote for the show—what am I doing wrong?
Please make sure you are clicking "Submit" once you have entered the correct characters displayed in the CAPTCHA. Hitting "enter" on your keyboard will not be successful, and we want to make sure your vote is counted.
What do I do if the polls aren't loading?
With so many exciting updates, there are periods of extremely high-traffic which may cause delays in our polls loading. Your voice is important to us—so we appreciate your patience.
Our site is best viewed with at least Flash Player Version 8, available from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/.
How do I unsubscribe from the mailing list?
To unsubscribe, log in at www.pcavote.com and visit the "Edit Your Preferences" page. In the "Boring but Required" section, de-select the check box next to the option "Yes! I'd like to receive information and updates from People's Choice, including emails, promotions, exciting news about the show, site, and more!" This will take you off of the People's Choice mailing list, but means that you won't be notified with any of the exciting online or awards show updates.
You can re-subscribe to our mailing list at any time to stay up to date on all of the new and exciting things happening at People's Choice. Simply go back into your profile and re-checking the "Yes! I'd like to receive information..." box. You can also choose to receive an update when new Buzz Polls are posted.
What do I do if my email address isn't recognized?
We're sorry for the inconvenience. Most likely, you have not officially registered since we launched our new web site in September—with all of the new features, we need to know a bit more about you. Please continue to voice your opinions and become a member on our new site at http://www.pcavote.com/pca/register.jsp
If you are still experiencing problems, please contact us at info@pcavote.com.
Who can register?
Anyone over the age of 13 can register to become a member of People's Choice. At this time we do not accept zip codes outside of the US and Canada. If you are from Canada, please enter your postal code without a space.

THE 34th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS SHOW

How are nominees chosen?
Potential nominees for THE 34TH ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS were compiled with the help of Knowledge Networks, a leading market research company along with members of the People's Choice Community. Knowledge Networks used its consumer research resources, which include the only projectable, web-based, nationally representative panel to identify a pop culture-involved sample of men and women ages 18-49. For each category, the respondents were provided with a set of candidates determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses and music sales. The respondents then chose their favorites in Television, Movies and Music. They also had the option to write in their favorites where not included among the provided candidates. Their top three selections in each category became the final nominees.
Why wasn't my favorite chosen?
With so many great options, it's hard to pick just three. Your favorites either were not eligible for consideration this year or did not rise to the top of the nominee selection panel. We encourage you to continue to participate as a member of People's Choice in the future to have your voice heard and make sure your favorites are on the list for next year.
How can I get a DVD of the show?
DVDs of the People's Choice Awards are not available at this time, but what a great idea! We're definitely interested in your suggestions, and we may decide to offer DVDs of our broadcasts in the future. Come back to pcavote.com after the show for highlights from this year's telecast.
